Rites of Christian Burial

Eulogies, “words of remembrance” sentimental remarks, or secular music, are not permitted during any of the Rites of Christian Burial in the funeral parlor, in the church, or at the gravesite.

Although cremation is permitted in the Catholic Church today, the Eparchy of Passaic has directives which specifically address how the funeral rites will be celebrated.  if the deceased will be cremated, the cremation must be after the conclusion of the Rites of Christian Burial.
